| Appeal against J.K. Rowling privacy ruling is rejected |
The British House of Lords has refused to hear an appeal in the privacy case brought by J.K. Rowling over photographs taken of their young son. Observers say the Court of Appeal's decision seems to leave the law of privacy in a confused state, and makes it difficult for the media to work out what is and is not likely to lead to problems. | J.K. Rowling to launch Beetle the Bard in Edinburgh |
Author JK Rowling is to read from one of the original handwritten fairytales which were mentioned in her last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The party will take place in Edinburgh on Thursday December 4, the same day as the tale goes on sale in shops. Local school children will be invited to attend the special charity launch. J.K. Rowling is the world's highest-earning author, making more than £5 every second over the past year, US business magazine Forbes has announced. J.K. Rowling is to be honoured by the city where she created the Harry Potter books. She has been selected to receive the Edinburgh Award. She said, "It is an absolute honour to receive this award, as Edinburgh is very much home for me and is the place where Harry evolved over seven books and many, many hours of writing in its cafes." A judge ruled Monday in favor of J.K. Rowling in her copyright infringement lawsuit against a fan and Web site operator who was set to publish a Harry Potter encyclopedia.
